            Jensen Ackles, an ex-scholar and war-hero has become destitute at the end of a war his kingdom fought with one of the neighboring principalities. Desperate to find a way to support his mother and siblings he answers a help-wanted ad from the palace. Despite his misgivings, and having only vague ideas about his job duties he accepts a position as Companion to Crown Prince Jared. The embattled Crown Prince struggles to survive a myriad of physical and political attacks as the Church and his uncle join forces to eliminate him as the heir apparent to the throne. Jared only has Chad, Chris and Jensen to rely on as he faces attack after attack. Additionally, Jared has secretly stalked Jensen for some time and has already developed a strong attraction to him. This is a problem because homosexuality is a crime punishable by death in their society.
